Kol Sana wentom Tayebin
Wishing you all the best Bairam/Eid Ever
Today, the sixth of October, 2007 marks the thirty fourth anniversary of the war Egypt and Syria waged on Israel at 2:00 pm on Saturday the 6th of October 1973, the Yum Kipur war, the war to end all wars.
This year the Gregorian and Hijri dates are so close, very close to the timing they were at on that day, the sun and moon have turned and turned, but they realign today on a different planet, shaped by the events on that glorious day. All I can think of today is remembering the brave men and women, the heros that came out of this nation to change the world, to restore the dignity of their wounded people and to reclaim our precious Sinai back. May God have mercy on their souls, for they have given us a far much better life than the ones they had to endure, they have made it possible for us to stand up with our heads up in the clouds, to aspire for betterness and to earn the respect of the whole world after standing for what we believe in. This nation has known peace and serenity after fear and loss, it has crossed the bridge between despair and hope over the shoulders of soldiers who woke up that day with the determination to win gloriously or die without that, but never to go home defeated or beaten, we were fighting to live.
Kol Sana we masr tayeba, kol sana we entom tayebin..
May Egypt prosper and live, may the Egyptians rejoice and remember, may God have mercy on us and our friends, may God grant us the will and the determination to fight back the bitterness and loss that we have accepted to haunt us, after we forgot who we are, after we have devalued the sacrifices of the greatest men and women who walked this noble earth.
